Fraunhofer AICOS actively participates in the organization of the pHealth 2012 – 9th International Conference on Wearable Micro and Nano Technologies for Personalized Health – which will be held in Porto (at Tiara Hotel) from the 26th to the 28th June.
The pHealth conference has emerged as the leading international meeting on wearable micro and nano technologies for personalized medicine. Starting in 2004, it has attracted scientists for various technologies, medical doctors, policy makers from the healthcare industry, hospital administration and allied professionals.
Collecting a dynamic professional community from Europe and all over the world, pHealth has given visibility to the tremendous potential of micro and nano technologies, not only for the future of medicine, but also for the improvement of healthcare processes today.
In this edition, pHealth will focus on gaming for physical and cognitive fitness and wellbeing; smartphone applications for monitoring chronic diseases; applications for smart and wearable sensors; personalized health and social care and AAL systems architectures and interoperability.
As “Ambient Assisted Living” is a very important topic within Fraunhofer AICOS’ strategic research agenda, the R&D center will have a strong participation in the pHealth 2012 Conference.
Liliana Ferreira, Rui Castro and Luís Rosado will be part of the poster session, presenting “Extraction of ABCD Rule Features from Skin Lesions Images with Smartphone”.
On the 28th June, within the session “Gaming: Physical and Cognitive Fitness and Wellbeing”, there will be a demonstration of “Dance Don’t Fall – Preventing Falls and Promoting Exercise at Home” by Paula Alexandra Silva, Francisco Nunes and Maureen Kerwin.
Finally, also on the 28th, Klaus Schaefers and David Ribeiro will talk about “User Clustering in Smartphone Applications”, in the “Application and Instrumentation for Monitoring & Therapy” session.
