SAPO Codebits is an annual event which gathers around a thousand participants (or so called geeks) and programmers for three non-stop days of talks, workshops and 48 hours programming competition. This is one of the biggest events of its kind running in Portugal and it attracts the best programming people not only from Portugal but from other countries. The 2014 edition took place in Lisbon from the 10th to the 12th April.
Fraunhofer Portugal attended SAPO Codebits 2014 and took the opportunity to showcase some of its projects as Precision Indoor Location, Smart Companion, Game Foundry and SAFETY. Alongside the demonstrations, which aroused the interest and curiosity of hundreds of participants, the Fraunhofer Portugal also participated in the event with two speakers, Filipe Sousa and Diogo Júnior. One of the talks was held by Filipe Sousa, under the theme “Discovering Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS and Research's Demystification”, and Diogo Júnior presented “Couchbase Mobile – APIs are for little kids”.
According to the organization, "this seventh edition of the Codebits was the best ever", and as has become usual, the event had great media coverage such as this report of TVI that addresses some of the projects of Fraunhofer Portugal (minute 2:40):
