Three researchers from Fraunhofer AICOS will facilitate two workshops with staff from Santa Casa da Misericórdia, in Lisbon, focusing on “Mobile solutions for disease prevention and quality of life”. During the morning, researchers will interact with health care staff and, in the afternoon, the topics to discuss with the social work staff will be directed at social innovation and human-centred design.
The workshops will be highly interactive, with a presentation of Fraunhofer’s mission, with specific talks about prevention and early detection of health risks, new technologies, participatory design and social innovation, and also presentations of mobile-based solutions for chronic disease management. Workshop participants will also have the chance to see demonstrations of the applications and to try them out.
Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) is a large organization which acts towards a humanitarian goal. Its social intervention includes health services and medical care, education and culture, as well as the promotion of quality of life, particularly for those most in need of protection. Fraunhofer AICOS, in turn, develops solutions for older adults and people with little access to technology, namely in the fields of assisted living and health care.
Therefore, both entities have agreed to put together these workshops to introduce new technologies to SCML professionals and to learn from these professionals about the challenges in the field. The workshop will be a perfect opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about each stakeholder’s point of view and envisage solutions for real problems based on new and affordable technologies developed in partnership with older people and caregivers. Together, we are designing “Remarkable technology, easy to use”.
The workshop will be held at “Pólo de Inovação Social Mitra”, in Marvila, Lisbon.
