The Head of Intelligent Systems, Inês Sousa and our senior scientist, Maria Vasconcelos were present at the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland from 28th to 31st May.
The summit is hosted each year and connects “AI innovators with problem owners for sustainable development”. It is organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with other United Nation agencies, the XPRIZE Foundation and ACM and promotes global and inclusive dialogue on Artificial Intelligence.
The main goal of the Summit is to connect the best professionals in AI, Business, Government, Civil Society and International Cooperation to think together aiming global impact.
As a part of the Summit, on May 30th, and organised by ITU in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the 5th Focus Group meeting was held at room Popov in the ITU building.
This initiative enters its work on AI for Health and explores the feasibility of AI for several use cases previously proposed. Fraunhofer AICOS submitted proposals on diagnosing skin lesions through imagery analysis and evaluating and reducing the elderly’s risk of falling that were accepted and debated in this group meeting.
