Digitization of the Textile and Clothing Sector Value Chain
Synthesis:
Digital transformation is not just about digital technologies and solutions, but about the successful adoption of the technologies to address problems and challenges in a context, in this case, the Portuguese textile and clothing sector. Therefore, project STVgoDIGITAL: Digitization of the Textile and Clothing Sector's Value Chain is centred on a set of challenges selected by the sector, ranging from supply chain 4.0 to the worker 4.0, and on the appropriation of digital technologies, so that all the challenges will have an adequate response.
STVgoDIGITAL is a structuring project of the Textile Cluster: Technology and Fashion. It promotes a set of R&D initiatives with a strong collective character and a high inductive and demonstrative effect, with the involvement of companies from the Textile and Clothing sector and complementary sectors that enhance the adoption and transition to Industry 4.0.
The project is aligned with one of the strategic pillars of the cluster: Industry 4.0 and Digitalization. This strategic pillar aims to promote the digital transformation of the textile and clothing sector (STV), characterized by an efficient, effective, and widespread adoption of technologies and applications of Industry 4.0, increasing productivity and efficiency in the companies and in the entire supply chain, making the Portuguese sector an international reference.
The project is structured into five sub-projects, or technical PPS (Products, Processes and Services), in order to develop innovative solutions in different areas:
- PPS1 – Sustainable and Circular Textile ID 4.0.
- PPS2 – Supply Chain 4.0.
- PPS3 – Fashion Ecosystem 4.0.
- PPS4 – Worker 4.0.
- PPS5 – Artificial Intelligence for ITV 4.0.
Additionally, a transversal PPS (PPS6 – Project management) will be dedicated to project management, dissemination, and exploitation of the results.
This consortium brings together twenty-three entities – sixteen companies and seven R&D entities – which for three years, between 2020 and 2023, are committed to taking this great challenge to fruition.
